Joe Marries Dorothy

I guess some family history is in order here. Joe met and married Dorothy. Mostly they lived in Alice Texas, because that’s where the oilfield work was abundant. They had 5 kids. Joe Jr., Alice, Jaquita, Craig, and Sherri. Don’t hold me to the order. I spent a lot of my summers when I was younger with them in Alice. Joe Jr. (Then he was called Dinky) and Alice were closer to my age and we hung around together. Joe was mostly at work when I came down, so I spent most of my time with Dorothy and the kids. 

When Joe did come home, he became a lazy bastard. He would sit in front of the TV and order Dot to get him a coffee. NOT ASK, order and, usually she would get it for him.  I don’t know where he got this idea of marriage, but if my dad spoke to my mom that way, she would have taken a butcher knife to him.

Once I remember mom was at Joe and Dot’s house in Alice when he ordered coffee. Mom told him to get up and get it himself. He told her Dot knows how I like it fixed. Mom was furious with both of them. At Joe because he was being an ass, and at Dot for letting him treat her that way.
