Leaving Mesquite

The family lived in Mesquite at 4105 Oleander trail.

I think our phone number was 972-270-8008. Just showing off my mental prowess.

We lived there from 1980 until we moved into Kim's house, in 2005 to take care of her two dogs Dirk and Dexter. When we sold the house, it needed a lot of work. The wiring in the house was the original from when it was built, and when you tried to install a new switch or outlet, the wires broke when you tried to bend them. It still needed the roof fixed, and the bathrooms needed to be modernized. All this would have cost us many thousands of dollars that we did not have.

Home Buyers.com

There is a company called HomeBuyers.com that buys houses for under market value, fixes them up, and flips them for profit. We sold our house to them. We lost a lot of equity in our home by doing that, but we were not in a position to fix it up, and sell it for market value ourselves.

Kim's house in Garland

Kim was finishing up her residency for Veterinary Medicine. She owned a house in Garland. 2702 Riveria Dr.

She was in Missouri for a while, then transferred to Madison Wisconsin. At some point, Dirk passed away, and Kim then got Alby. Kim had Dirk since he was a puppy. She and John were married when she got Dirk. Shortly after she got him, Dirk got into trouble by eating a bunch of pins used for sewing clothes. What Kim was doing with pins, I have no idea, but Dirk found them and swallowed a bunch. When Kim found out, she immediately took him to the vet. She showed us the x-ray of his stomach with the pins in there.

Before Dirk passed, Kim brought home Dexter. He was just a big dopey puppy that liked to play. Dirk put up with Dexter’s antics, but was not motivated to join in.

Alby is mostly blind and deaf. He is the most lovable dog, but thinks he is a Chihuahua. He constantly wants to climb up into your lap. Only problem is, he weighs 80 or so pounds.

We lived in Kim's Garland house until we moved to Mckinney.

Alby takes a trip

Shortly after Kim got home, Alby got out of the back yard.  He was new to the area and had never been out of the back yard.  Kim called the family to help look for him.  Marty, Alex and Drew and I went to Garland to help Kim find Alby.  It was made more difficult because of his limited hearing and poor sight.  Every time any of us would see him, he got scared and ran away.  It took us a couple of hours to get him corralled and back home.

Kim has since moved to Salt Lake City Utah, and has gotten a new friend for Alby. Her name is Gertie and in this photo, Alby doesn't look pleased with Gertie getting the attention.

Mckinney

When Kim returned home from her residency, she kicked us out of her house. NOT really, we wanted to move closer to our church St. Andrews,

St. Andrews Episcopal Church in McKinney

and our grandkids in McKinney.  We rented the house at 2322 Brookview Dr. for nearly 8 years.

The owner decided to sell the house, and offered it to us for a ridiculously high number.  In our opinion, it wasn’t worth half what he wanted for it. So we started looking for a new house in Mckinney.  It was difficult, because the rents in McKinney had more than doubled in the 8 years we lived there.

Anna House

One of our friends from church is a real estate agent, and helped us find the house in Anna. At the time we were on spring break with Heather, Mickey, Bella, and Aidan in Destin Florida.  The kids were enjoying the beach when our real estate agent called and told us she thought she found us a house.  She sent us pictures and we put down a deposit sight unseen. She was right, it has been perfect for us. 200 Melbourne Dr. in Anna.

We have been here 4 years and it suits our needs.
