Ted Marries Carole

Ted had gotten married to Carole shortly before we left Norman, and they had moved to San Antonio to begin their own family.

 Ted and Carole had 3 children, and one still birth. I was told, I think by Wanda but I'm not positive, that Thalidomide was involved. Thalidomide was a drug Doctors prescribed to ease the effects of morning sickness. Ted just recently told me that Thalidomide was not involved. Their baby was still born and badly deformed. After that Ted and Carole went on to have 3 healthy children. Chuck, and a pair of twins Darren and Laurie.  

The still birth may have been common knowledge in our family, but I didn’t even find about it until Wanda told me after I was an adult. Things like that weren’t open for discussion. I guess we were just very private people, even when it comes family issues, divorces, pregnancies. I usually found about a pregnancy after the new baby was born. My mom used to speak with her friends like this. “ Did you know Susan is PG again?” . She wouldn’t even say pregnant, much less talking about a still born baby.
