Tennis
Not much happened during these years about my name, so not many Santa's Stories.
I went to Patti Welder Jr. High School in Victoria, where I took my first intra-mural tennis class.

I was not very good, but I grew to love playing later on in life. I kept playing through high school. I think part of the attraction was seeing the girls in short-shorts. I was just a typical horny teen-ager and needed no encouragement to ogle when I got the chance. I always hoped to be good enough to play on the Varsity team, but never even made Jr. Varsity. Still the lessons I learned have stayed with me all these years later. I think I learned not to be too obvious with the ogling. I guess you would say I learned to be discreet in my ogling.
To this day, I still ogle, I just don’t go slack jawed and have my tongue hang out as I did when I was a kid. Tennis also taught me the rules of the sport, and the importance of being honest in your calls. When you are playing tennis for recreation and exercise, you normally don’t have a referee to call shots in or out. We learned to be as honest as we could. It would really get my goat when I played someone new, and they would constantly rule close calls in their favor.
If I hadn’t gotten so fat, I might still be playing today. Mimi can attest to all the money I spent on tennis racquets over the years.
